MONITORING

“ Technology creates efficiencies essential to a successful business, but artificial intelligence will never replace the personal and analytical skills of a human being. We appreciate and rely on the power of technology, but at Media Intel it’s the people that make the real difference.”

Jeffrey Ryan
President/CEO

Media Intel is the modern-day equivalent of the office “Gofer,” an eager high school or college intern who was responsible for scanning the local newspaper and cutting out articles to paste into the company scrapbook between trips to the post office and stocking office supplies.

Most companies can’t afford to have a staff person dedicated to that kind of busy-work, so the valuable information gleaned from that effort is lost. Attempting to utilize existing employees usually means missing key media mentions because those individuals aren’t trained to read efficiently or effectively. That’s all we’ve ever done at Media Intel.

With over 40 years of observing and responding to changes and trends in this media industry, our staff members are highly trained specialists who search and archive media clips. As our client’s needs and media markets have grown, we have expanded our services but we have never left our area of expertise.

Even though we are on the forefront of media technology, we still believe in the importance of personal contact. Our staff reads newspapers that never make it to the Internet and when you call us with questions you won’t have to figure out a complicated voicemail system – you’ll talk to a person.

We appreciate and rely on the power of technology, but at Media Intel it’s the people that make the real difference.

Services: Summary

What are clips and how does Media Intel find them?

“ Clip” is the name given to an article, advertisement or other media reference that is removed from the original source; those sources can be printed newspapers or magazine as well as electronic media such as television, Web sites, e-zines or electronic versions of print publications.

Our staff uses an exclusive combination of trained staff and proprietary software to find anything your company needs to know about important media references. Some of the most frequently searched topic areas include:

  • Company name
  • Names of corporate executives
  • Specific product names
  • Potential clients
  • Industry news
  • Competitors
  • Professional associations

Where does Media Intel find clips?

Traditional newspapers still exists, despite the dire predictions made with the advent of the Internet. However, as paper and electronic versions of publications try to maximize their potential readership, they often create print and Web content that are exclusive to that edition. Reading one or the other isn’t enough. And some papers don’t even have a Web site.

As a result of our large number of clients we know about and have access to media other services miss with their Google-based searches. Generic search engines have limited capabilities and they can only find what you tell them to look for – our people have extensive knowledge on media that makes them an invaluable element in finding media references.

It’s that human expertise that makes it possible for us to access the virtual coffee shop conversations that influence opinions and buying decisions as friends share information about their experiences. But unlike verbal exchanges that evaporate into think air, online discussions are preserved and accessible to those who know how to find them.
